I'm Damian, owner of PAGE Tradie Plumbing & Gas. I supply and install hot water systems across the Sunshine Coast, from straight like-for-like swaps to switching from electric to gas or heat pump.
As a plumber, gas fitter and holder of a restricted electrical licence for hot water, I can handle the plumbing, gas and electrical reconnection myself. You get a fixed price before I start, and the old unit taken away when I'm done.

Hot Water Systems I Install
I'll recommend the right type and size for your home, not what's easiest for me to fit.
Electric Storage
Cheapest to install and works anywhere. On an off-peak tariff it's cheap to run, as long as the tank is sized right for your household.

Gas Continuous Flow
Heats water only when you use it, so it never runs out. A great fit for bigger households on natural gas or LPG, installed and certified by me as a licensed gas fitter.

Gas Storage
A tank heated by gas, with quick recovery after heavy use. Often the simplest swap if you already have a gas storage system.

Heat Pump

Hot Water Replacement When Yours Has Died
No hot water is a priority job. Common electric and gas sizes are usually available from local suppliers on the day, so I can often replace a failed system the same or next day. Heat pump and solar systems sometimes need ordering in.

Upgrading, Relocating or Building New
Switching from electric to gas or heat pump, moving the system during a renovation, or fitting out a new build or granny flat. These take more planning than a straight swap, so I'll come and look, then give you a fixed price.
For bigger changes, I check what matters before you spend money: gas supply and pipe size, the electrical circuit and tariff, where the relief drain will run, and whether the new spot meets the standards.

Gas, Electric or Heat Pump?
Each one suits a different home. Here's the honest version.
🔥 Gas
Endless hot water with continuous flow, quick recovery and good for bigger households. Needs natural gas or LPG bottles, and costs more to install than electric.
⚡ Electric
Lowest upfront cost and works anywhere. Cheap to run on off-peak, dearer on a peak tariff. Limited by tank size, and slower to reheat after heavy use.
🌡️ Heat Pump
Uses far less power than a standard electric tank. Costs more upfront, though government incentives may help. Needs the right circuit and tariff to deliver the savings.
☀️ Solar
Lowest running costs long term and well suited to our climate. Needs a suitable roof facing the right way, and a boost for cloudy weather.
Repair or Replace?
Not every system needs replacing. I'll give you both options where it makes sense.
A Repair Usually Makes Sense If
The system is under about 8 years old, the tank isn't leaking, and the fault is a part like an element, thermostat, valve or gas pilot. See hot water repairs →

The system is over 10 years old, water is leaking from the tank itself, the hot water is rusty, or you're paying for repairs on a system near the end of its life.

Call or send a photo of your current system and its label. For straight swaps I can often price it over the phone. For bigger changes, I'll come and look.
Fixed Price
You get one price covering the system, valves, connections, removal of the old unit and the compliance certificate. Anything extra is in the quote, not added later.
Installation
The old system drained and removed, the new one installed with the right valves and relief drain, and the gas or electrical connected and tested.
Clean Up & Handover
Work area cleaned up, the system checked once it's heating, and a quick run-through of anything you need to know, including warranty and the compliance paperwork.

How much does a new hot water system cost on the Sunshine Coast?
A standard 250L electric like-for-like replacement is $2,400 installed inc GST, including valves, electrical reconnection, removal of the old unit and the compliance certificate. A small 50L system for a unit or granny flat is about $1,500. Gas, heat pump and solar systems vary more, so I quote them for free. A relief drain upgrade is from $200 if needed, and difficult access or extra pipework is quoted before I start.
How quickly can you replace my hot water system?

How long does a hot water installation take?
A like-for-like swap usually takes 2 to 4 hours. Changing the type of system, moving it, or running a new gas line takes longer, and I'll tell you how long when I quote.
What size hot water system do I need?
As a guide, 1 to 2 people need a 125 to 160L electric tank or a 16 to 20L/min gas continuous flow unit, 3 to 4 people need around 250L or 20 to 26L/min, and 5 or more need 315 to 400L or 26L/min and up. On an off-peak electric tariff you often need a bigger tank. Tell me how your household uses hot water and I'll size it properly.
Should I choose gas or electric hot water?
If you have natural gas or use LPG, gas continuous flow gives endless hot water and suits bigger households. Electric storage is cheaper to install, works anywhere and is cheap to run on off-peak. Heat pumps cost more upfront but use far less power. I'll look at your setup and give you an honest recommendation.
What's the most energy-efficient hot water system?
Heat pumps and solar systems use the least energy, and gas continuous flow only heats water when you use it. Heat pumps and solar cost more upfront, though government incentives may reduce the price. Before installing a heat pump, I check your electrical circuit and tariff suit it, because the wrong setup can wipe out the savings.
Do you take the old hot water system away?
Yes. Removing and disposing of your old system is included in the price.
Are you licensed to install gas and electric hot water?
Yes. I hold QBCC licence 15559043 for plumbing and gas fitting, including LPG, and a restricted electrical licence for hot water, so I can disconnect and reconnect electric systems myself. Every installation comes with a compliance certificate. If a new circuit or switchboard work is needed, I'll arrange a licensed electrician and include it in your quote.
